RE: Predictions on Summer Gas Prices?

Noticed that diesel hit $4.29 today at my local station. Could not bring myself to fill up. (still have 1/2 a tank of $4.19 to burn)

Anode for Suburban 6 Gal Water Heater

Hi Gang,
I thought I was all set for the season. I went to change the anode on my Suburban 6 Gallon water heater, and when I went to screw the new Camco in, I could only get about 3 turns on the anode before it locked down. The fitting looks like it could take a lot more, but I can't get any more turns. Is this normal? I thought that I might have a cross-thread position, but everything looks normal. Cleaned the threads and even tried moving the anode in like a tap... screw in, back off a turn, etc... Any ideas? I am thinking about buying a tap and sending that through......
Thanks

RE: 2008 puma

Love our 2007 30DBSS... only issue was with the set-up of the Puma Den door which we fixed in 10 minutes. Pull with a Dodge 2500 Diesel, so the potential weight issue is a non issue. Enjoy the camper and good luck!

RE: Mud Flaps for TV

Good point Loopy.... I will let you know! Kind of ironic, but with Diesel going for $4.19 a gallon, and a 35 Gallon tank on the Dodge, I figured for the price of a "tank of gas", the flaps were worth it. ;)

Mud Flaps for TV

Hi Gang,
After hearing several "rocks" hit the travel trailer last year, I decided to invest in a set of mud flaps for my Dodge 2500. I thought about adding Mopar flaps, but I didn't like the "look". I found a set of removable flaps that attach to the 2" draw bar on my dual cam that look pretty sharp (on the web site)called "Rock Tamers" by Enkay. I placed an order today and I will post a picture after they arrive. Anyone use these?
Thanks

North Carolina Camping

Hi Gang,
I thought that I saved a link from a post several months ago, but I can't find it. I am looking for a camp ground on the North Carolina coast that was on the beach and had a go-cart track across the street. Does this ring any bells out there? I remember visiting the site and it appeared to be a nice place.
Thanks.

RE: Comparison-Keystone Springdale, Palomino Puma, Coachmen SOA

Can't give a perspective on the the Springdale or the Coachmen, we own a 2007 PUMA 30DBSS and have not had any manufacturer issues. Fit and finish were fine and @ 240 pounds, I have not had any problems walking on the roof.

RE: Puma 31-BHSS

BIG Congrats on the NEW PUMA! We have a 2007 30DBSS that we bought last March and we love the trailer as well. I have not found anything "wrong" with the unit with the exception of a burned out electric water heater element (my bad), but that will be an easy fix after the snow melts. Make sure that your PUMA Den door is adjusted correctly. I did notice a small leak on one of our very rain filled camping trips, but it was fixed with an adjustment to the door latch (2 screws and 5 minutes of time). I do agree with an earlier post that the PUMA trailers are heavy. We have a 2007 2500 Mega Cab (can't imagine anything smaller with a family of 4) with the 5.9 Diesel that handles the trailer very well, hopefully you will have a similar experience with your Dodge. Happy Camping!!

Trailer Running Light "On/Off" Switch

I was going through some digital photos from last season and I found a picture of the on/off switch I made for the trailer running lights when parked in the CG. I really like the look of the camp site with the glow of the fire and the marker lights. Anyway, the plastic box is from Home Depot and I wired a switch and fuse into the female plug from an auto parts store. When I unhook from the truck, I plug into the "box" and I can flip on the lights after sun-set. Just an idea for you. (There is a jumper in the female plug that connects the marker light tab to the battery tab)

RE: Ladder & Bed Rail - With Pictures (Revised)

It's a little hard to tell in the picture, but the ladder is not attached to anything. There are felt pads on the top and bottom, and the ladder "wedges" between the upper bunk rail and the wall of the lower bunk. It is really sturdy for climbing and we simply place it on one of the lower bunks when not in use.
As for the rails, notice in the picture that I cut the rail support to fit flush against the curved front section of the bunk rail. On the back of the rail support I screwed a piece of metal plate the width of the rail support that extends down to the base of the bunk. The metal is "wedged" in between the mattress and the bunk rail. All contact points are covered with self adhesive felt pads to guard against scratching or tearing of the mattress/mattress pad. The rails pull up and off, but with the mattress pressure as well as the tight fit, I don't worry about the kid's accidentally pulling one out. When the temps get up a little higher I will grab a rail out of the camper and snap a picture of the bed rail itself. Sorry I didn't think of that before.

Ladder & Bed Rail - With Pictures (Revised)

OK... I think I know how to do this now.
As I said in my original post, I have a bunk house model and I needed rails for the kids and a ladder. This is what I came up with, all from oak.

Bunk House Ladder and Bed Rails

I saw a number of posts looking for options for Ladders and Bed Rails. I attempted to add 2 pictures and hopefully they will come through. (first time posting pictures)
I used oak for both the rails and the ladder. Rail posts were made using a paper template formed for the front of the bunk edge. The back has a straight metal strip that slips down between the mattress and back of the bunk edge. All the surfaces that come in contact with the bunk have a strip of rubber foam to keep the contact tight and protect from scratching. I actually have rails for 2 of the 4 bunks. Hopefully this will give some ideas.

RE: Everyone ready for spring?

Just started to put the plan together and mark the reservation list for the big July vacation: CT to Virginia to North Carolina to Penn and home. I really felt "warm" until I walked outside. Darn winter.

Disclaimer - This is only intended for a SMILE

I was reading a couple of past threads, and I could not help myself when this popped into my head........
How would you respond if I had the following question:
I am a newbie...
I just added a second diesel engine to my stock 2007 Dodge - two in line.(I pulled out my wife's seat, so she has to sit on the trailer tongue now - OK - I had an extra spot on the bike rack anyway) I figure I am pushing 1,000 horse power now. Do you think I could handle an extra 6-Pack of beer in my TT refrigerator when I am towing up hill, or should I just wait and buy at the CG store??
Again..SMILE.. sorry if I broke any laws moderator....but there was 1 thread that I could not believe (no troll comments please.. haha)
Happy Friday
